In celebration of World Quantum Day 2024, Tech Mahindra, a leading provider of digital transformation, consulting, and business re-engineering services and solutions, and IQM Quantum Computers, a global leader in building quantum computers, have partnered to raise awareness, demonstrate, and promote the transformative power, and increase an understanding of quantum science and technology.

Activities lined up to celebrate the day with various stakeholders include a live X(formerly Twitter) chat on April 16 at 8pm-9pm (IST) between Nikhil Malhotra, the Chief Innovation Officer at Tech Mahindra, and Dr. Juha Vartiainen, the Global Affairs Officer and co-founder of IQM Quantum Computers. The conversation will focus on “Quantum Computing: The IQM Story.”

In addition, a quantum masterclass will provide an overview of quantum technology, focusing on the fundamentals of quantum computing and its applications, at TechMahindra’s Makers Lab in Espoo on April 16, 2024.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field, as well as ask questions and engage in discussions with the speakers, including Dr. Mikio Nakahara, a Quantum Education Manager at IQM Quantum Computers.

The world quantum day, an international and community-driven celebration, was launched in 2022. The initiative is celebrated in more than 65 countries to showcase the latest advancements in quantum technologies, spark interest, and generate enthusiasm for quantum mechanics.

IQM and the Makers Lab of Tech Mahindra have been connected and working together for the last three years. It is based on this relationship that Makers Lab was opened up in Finland to create a greater synergy, said Nikhil Malhotra, Chief Innovation Officer of Tech Mahindra.

IQM is leading the field in terms of hardware for quantum computers, and Tech Mahindra is leading the world of software services and research in quantum. On this World Quantum Day, we have come together to give the community a better insight into the fascinating world of quantum,” Nikhil continues.
Collaborating with Tech Mahindra to celebrate this global initiative is part of our educational efforts into quantum computing to spread knowledge and understanding of quantum technology. We believe that this is a great way for people, especially students and anyone interested in quantum computing, to learn more about this interesting field and gain insight into its potential for industries,” said Vartiainen.

IQM Academy refresh

Launched in 2023, IQM Academy, a free online quantum learning platform to educate and prepare talent for the quantum workforce globally, has been updated with new educational modules.

The new modules include implementing textbook algorithms and mastering IQM Deneb, a 6-qubit quantum processor with a star topology where all qubits are connected to a central element, the novel computational resonator.

With these new modules, university students, educators, and enthusiasts who are curious to start learning about the fundamentals of quantum computing will learn how to work with the novel resonator element and its operation. They will create a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state with IQM Deneb and measure its fidelity, and run an optimization algorithm as well,” said Dr. Stefan Seegerer, Education Lead at IQM Quantum Computers.

IQM Deneb can be accessed through IQM Resonance, a cloud service offering. IQM Deneb paves the way for 2–10 times more efficient quantum error correction codes compared to standard implementations.

Seegerer added that IQM will continue to improve the learning platform by introducing new features on variational quantum algorithms and more integration into its quantum systems.
